SECCO: Secure Cooperation
نویسنده
چکیده
Project Description Cooperation is of fundamental importance in distributed systems and can, from a security point of view, be divided into two types according to whether or not the cooperating parties trust each other. Trust can generally be assumed when entities belonging to the same organization need to cooperate; typical scenarios are cooperative work and workflow systems. On the other hand, cooperation among parties that do not necessarily trust each other is one of the major challenges to be solved when the emerging information infrastructure is to become fully operational. This will be typically the case for electronic commerce, including negotiations, collective decision making (e.g. voting), contract signing, or payments. The topic of this project is secure cooperation in a distributed environment among parties that neither trust each other nor have a common party they all trust. The project is managed by Prof. Dr. Ueli Maurer of ETH and Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Frei of UBILAB.

Efficient and Secure Information Sharing For Security Personnels: A Role and Cooperation Based Approach
To facilitate users to interact with and share information without difficulty and faultlessly across various networks and databases nationwide, a secure and trusted information-sharing environment has been recognized as an imperative requirement and to advance homeland security effort. The key incentive following this research is to build a secure and trusted information-sharing approach for go...
متن کاملSECCO: On Building Semantic Links in Peer-to-Peer Networks
Ontology Mapping is a mandatory requirement for enabling semantic interoperability among different agents and services relying on different ontologies. This aspect becomes more critical in Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks for several reasons: (i) the number of different ontologies can dramatically increase; (ii) mappings among peer ontologies have to be discovered on the fly and only on the parts of...
متن کاملCooperation among strangers with limited information about reputation
The amount of institutional intervention necessary to secure efficiency-enhancing cooperation in markets and organizations, in circumstances where interactions take place among essentially strangers, depends critically on the amount of information informal reputation mechanisms need transmit. Models based on subgame perfection find that the information necessary to support cooperation is recurs...
متن کاملSecure Communications over Wireless Channels
In this work, we present new techniques that leverage the wireless medium in facilitating secure communications in the presence of eavesdroppers. First, we consider the secure transmission of information over an ergodic fading channel with long coherence intervals. The secrecy capacity of such a system is characterized under different assumptions on the available channel state information. We t...
متن کاملThe Relay-Eavesdropper Channel: Cooperation for Secrecy
This paper establishes the utility of user cooperation in facilitating secure wireless communications. In particular, the four-terminal relay-eavesdropper channel is introduced and an outer-bound on the optimal rate-equivocation region is derived. Several cooperation strategies are then devised and the corresponding achievable rate-equivocation region are characterized. Of particular interest i...
